Magli Intermodal Service has published its first Sustainability Report, covering the 2025 financial year. The document sets out the company’s environmental, social and governance information, the methodology used to calculate it and the targets defined for the 2025-2027 period.
The report does not respond to a regulatory obligation. The decision follows requests coming from the supply chain: the steel and manufacturing companies that entrust their flows to M.I.S. are building the emissions inventory of their own supply chain, and to do so they need primary data and a declared methodology from their transport providers. The same request for transparency comes from the financial institutions supporting investment in vehicles, terminals and infrastructure.
What the document contains
The report opens with the double materiality assessment, the process through which the company identified the environmental and social topics relevant to its own operations and to its stakeholders, considering both the impacts generated and the economic and financial implications.
On the environmental side, the following chapters cover climate management, with emissions calculated according to the GHG Protocol and emission intensity indicators referred to distance travelled and to turnover, together with resource use and circular economy. The social section brings together data on health and safety, training, career progression and pay equity, while the governance section describes the Code of Ethics, the Organisational Model under Legislative Decree 231/2001, the whistleblowing system and the management of information security. A closing chapter is devoted to the relationship with the local area.
The document also reports the results of the survey carried out among customers during 2025, covering service quality, the strength of the commercial relationship and expectations regarding the future development of the offering.
Targets to 2027
The final section sets out the commitments made for the three-year period, organised along four lines: reducing emissions from diesel consumption, pursued through the progressive renewal of the fleet, an increased share of journeys by rail and a reduction in empty running; covering the company’s electricity requirement with self-generated renewable energy; extending the calculation of indirect emissions to the entire supply chain; introducing environmental and social criteria into supplier qualification.
For each target, the document indicates the planned actions, the monitoring indicators and the timeframe.
